H.H. Sheikh Mohammed unveils AED 100 billion DIFC expansion plan

Dubai Media Office

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has launched the DIFC Zabeel District — a landmark expansion of the Dubai International Financial Centre.

The new district is set to strengthen DIFC’s position as the leading financial hub for the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, while reinforcing Dubai’s reputation as the region’s preferred destination for business and lifestyle.

Covering more than seven million square feet of land and offering 17.7 million square feet of built-up space, DIFC Zabeel District is the region’s largest demand‑driven expansion of a financial centre, with a development value exceeding AED 100 billion.

During the launch, His Highness said Dubai is a story of limitless ambition, built on future‑focused achievements and a commitment to shaping change rather than waiting for it.

He said the new district will enable DIFC to host more than 42,000 companies, support a workforce of over 125,000, and dedicate more than one million square feet to future technologies and AI.

The expansion will be connected to the existing Gate District via a signature bridge, forming a seamless extension of the centre’s urban landscape.

Developed in six phases, DIFC Zabeel District is expected to open to the public in 2030, with the full masterplan set for completion by 2040.

Cutting-edge infrastructure

The expansion will feature a first-of-its-kind art pavilion deepening DIFC’s standing as Dubai’s home to art and culture. Specific sites will be designed for landmark pieces of art and architecture.

The DIFC Zabeel District will offer a mix of commercial and residential spaces anchored from a central boulevard, a conference centre, hotels, upscale retail offerings and cutting-edge technology infrastructure.

The community’s uniquely curated open spaces will be filled with abundant levels of greenery and thriving biodiversity, underpinning healthier working, living and social connections.

The design philosophy of the expansion revolves around fostering connectivity and easily accessible integrated living.
