The UAE General Budget Committee has reviewed the draft federal budget framework for the 2027-2029 fiscal period as part of preparations for the government's next medium-term strategic plan.

During its 15th meeting at Qasr Al Watan, the committee examined preliminary revenue forecasts and expenditure estimates for 2027, and directed the completion of the procedures needed to prepare the federal budget for the three-year planning cycle.

The committee also reviewed the federal government's financial position for 2026, noting positive economic indicators and continued growth across key sectors despite regional and global challenges.

The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court; and His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.

Members discussed funding requests for new strategic projects and reviewed progress on approved capital and development projects.

The new budget cycle will place a strong focus on using artificial intelligence to enhance financial planning, improve data analysis, streamline procedures and boost government efficiency.

The strategy also aims to strengthen the role of the federal budget as a tool for future readiness, sustainable development and improved public services.
