Kuwait says Iranian drones hit two power and desalination plants

KUNA/X

Two power and water desalination planets in Kuwait have suffered "significant damage" after Iranian attacks early Sunday, its state media confirmed.

The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said two power generation units were also taken out of service.

No casualties have been reported, Kuwait's state news agency confirmed on social media.

In a press statement, ministry spokesperson Fatima Jawhar Hayat said technical and emergency teams were working round the clock to ensure the services return to normal, stressing that the safety and stability of the electricity and water systems is a top priority.

Earlier on Sunday, the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) reported that a fire broke out at the Oil Sector Complex (OSC) in Shuwaikh following a drone attack.

No injuries were reported in the incident, adding that emergency and firefighting teams were on the site.

Kuwait's Ministry of Finance also reported significant material damage following a drone attack on its ministries complex late Saturday, with no injuries reported.

The ministry added that complex employees were requested to work remotely on Sunday and to postpone any visitor request.
