Qatar's Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported that a commercial cargo vessel in the country's territorial waters was targeted by a drone on Sunday morning.

The incident - northeast of the Mesaieed Port having come from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates - resulted in a small fire onboard with no reported injuries

The vessel continued its journey toward Mesaieed Port after the fire was brought under control.

The Qatar MoD added that the necessary measures were taken, and coordination was carried out with the relevant authorities.

This incident occurred on the same day that Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff in Miami on to discuss regional tensions and ongoing mediation efforts.
