'Circle Dubai' initiative sets new standards for waste management

WAM

Dubai Municipality has launched a major sustainability initiative called 'Circle Dubai', unveiled during the Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum at Expo City.

Under the slogan "Reduce...Reuse...Recycle...Together we make a difference", the initiative aims to transform waste management across the emirate by promoting innovation, smart solutions and community engagement.

Circle Dubai supports the city’s goal of diverting 100 per cent of waste from landfills by 2041, with at least 56 per cent of that waste being recycled.

It introduces a long-term roadmap to reduce waste at source, modernise collection systems and embed zero-waste culture through education and public campaigns.

A key feature is a new digital education platform offering sector-specific sustainability training, alongside the Dubai Sustainability Ambassadors programme, which empowers residents to lead awareness efforts in their communities.

The initiative is backed by 17 strategic projects and 26 performance indicators, developed in partnership with private, educational and tourism sectors.

Dubai Municipality is calling on residents to get involved by joining the platform, attending awareness events, or volunteering — to contribute to a cleaner, greener Dubai.
