As many as 349 UAE motorists were fined for transporting passengers in unlicensed vehicles.
These illegal transportation fines were issued as part of a larger operation conducted by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), which inspected over 13,000 transport options for compliance with the set standards.
The inspections were conducted on taxis, limousines, and hourly rented cars.
The campaigns resulted in issuing 626 tickets for a variety of offences.
Inspections covered about 90 per cent of cars rented by hours fleet, 81 per cent of the taxi fleet, and 85 per cent of the limousine fleet.
Drivers were educated about the importance of maintaining personal hygiene, keeping their vehicles clean, and complying with the instructions made to reduce the number of complaints filed.
