Major road maintenance works completed across Dubai

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed maintenance and rehabilitation works on 17 kilometres of asphalt roads across nine streets and six areas of the emirate.

The project, carried out under the RTA’s annual preventive maintenance programme, covered major roads, residential and industrial areas, as well as a cycling track.

The authority says the works are part of ongoing efforts to maintain Dubai’s road network to international standards, improve traffic flow and enhance road safety as the city continues to grow.

Maintenance was carried out using advanced laser scanning and artificial intelligence technologies to identify road damage, cracks and potholes before they become major issues.

Key roads included Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, Al Khawaneej Street, Baghdad Street, Al Manama Street, Algeria Street and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street, along with Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, Riyadh Street, Amman Street, Al Wuheida Street and Zabeel Palace Street.

Internal and industrial areas covered included Mirdif, Al Garhoud, Za’abeel 1, Margham, Al Thanyah fifth and Jebel Ali Industrial 2.

The RTA has reminded motorists to follow traffic signs and exercise caution in areas where temporary diversions may be in place during maintenance activities.
