New Syrian government welcomed by UAE

Wam

The UAE has welcomed the formation of the new Syrian government, and affirmed its support for the Syrian people’s aspirations towards achieving stability and prosperity.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed confidence that the new government will meet the requirements of the five-year transitional phase.

The UAE also reaffirmed its commitment to reinforcing bilateral relations across various fields and reiterated its steadfast position in supporting all endeavours aimed at fulfilling the aspirations of the Syrian people for stability, peaceful coexistence and development.

Syria’s new transitional government was officially sworn in on Saturday, nearly four months after President Bashar al-Assad was ousted.

The 23-member cabinet will replace the interim government set up immediately following Assad's exit in early December.
