Sharjah Ruler assures continued free education for Sudanese students

His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has directed authorities to ensure students at Sudan Private School continue to get free education.

Sheikh Sultan issued a directive to Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) through the Direct Line programme to refund "nominal" fees collected for the new academic year.

The school, he reiterated, was set up to offer support to Sudanese parents facing financial difficulties.

"It appears that Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) put some fees in place and called them 'nominal', but a nominal fee is a lot for someone in need, so we've instructed the authority not to take any fees at all, large or small, from these pupils," he clarified on the programme.

His comments came in response to a message sent by a Sudanese parent to the programme stating that they were requested to pay "high" tuition fees after a full year at the school, and could not receive their children's certificate unless the amount was paid.
