Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, will lead the UAE delegation at the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81) in New York.
Sheikh Abdullah affirmed that the UAE's participation will provide "an opportunity to restore confidence in the role of international law within the UN system and uphold the principles of the Charter of the UN".
He emphasised the UAE's support for "dialogue, respect for international law, and effective multilateral cooperation", especially during the regional developments, adding it's "more important than ever".
The High-Level Week, running until September 28, includes participation of several member states, UN officials and international partners who aim to advance solutions to global challenges.
The UAE's priorities for UNGA81 will be guided by three strategic objectives - advancing conflict resolution, supporting UN reforms for greater efficiency and effectiveness, and championing climate action and sustainable water solutions.
The delegation is set to participate in a series of high-level meetings and bilateral engagements to advance the country’s international priorities. They will also work on preparations for the 2026 UN Water Conference, which will be co-hosted by the UAE and Senegal from December 8 to 10 in Abu Dhabi.
