Dubai Police have summoned a tourist and impounded his rented car after he performed dangerous stunts on Sheikh Zayed Road.
The authority took action after a video circulating on social media showed the vehicle swerving and skidding on a bend, putting other road users at serious risk.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director of the General Department of Traffic, said officers, working with cyber investigation teams, quickly identified the driver and seized the vehicle.
He added that the tourist appeared to be showing off, endangering his life and the lives of others.
Under Federal Traffic Law, the offence carries a AED 2,000 fine, 23 black points and a 60-day vehicle impoundment.
Brigadier bin Suwaidan warned that stunt driving and drifting can easily lead to loss of control, major collisions and severe injuries or fatalities.
He stressed that Dubai Police will show zero tolerance for such behaviour and will refer offenders to the judiciary when necessary.
The official also urged the public to help report reckless driving through the Dubai Police smart app’s “Police Eye” feature or the “We Are All Police” hotline at 901.
