The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) has issued a rain alert for most parts of the country, with increased showers forecast from Thursday evening.

The weather bureau issued an orange and yellow alert on Wednesday, with the public warned of a drop in visibility due to rising dust from strong winds, with forecasts for hail and thunder.

Meanwhile, the NCM also clarified to ARN News that there is no possibility of tornadoes in the region.

The Ministry of Interior also urged the public to exercise caution on the road, reduce speed, and follow travel instructions in light of the unstable weather.

It also instructed the community to steer away from areas prone to flash floods and water accumulation, and to avoid going to the sea or the beach.

Travellers are advised to check with their airlines for regular updates and to plan extra hours for their trip to the airports.

The NCEMA has reassured the public about the weather, adding that early warning systems will be in place.
