UAE shuts down 200 social media accounts for unlicensed recruitment

As many as 200 social media accounts were closed during the first half of 2026 for offering domestic worker services illegally, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) announced on Wednesday.

The accounts were found operating without the required licences or any affiliation to licensed recruitment offices.

They were blocked by Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority.

Officials said they used field inspections, electronic monitoring and tracking systems and AI tech to identify social media accounts that violate UAE labour laws.

Residents have been urged to go to licensed recruitment offices and to report any suspicious ads or unlicensed services by calling 600590000 or by checking the approved list on mohre.gov.ae.

Licensed offices, it added, follow clear standards, approved pricing and provide trained workers prepared to serve families safely and professionally.
