The UAE has announced an initiative to convert shipping containers into medical clinics to ensure healthcare reaches remote and crisis-affected regions.
'DOCKTOUR' is a joint venture between AD Ports Group and Burjeel Holdings, and was officially unveiled during the “Make it in the Emirates” forum.
The mobile hospitals will also support local economies by creating jobs for local talent.
It aims to address logistical challenges in reaching underserved communities, especially in areas where the UAE implements major humanitarian projects, explained Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings.
Imran Khoury, board member at Burjeel Holdings, emphasised that the project reflects the UAE’s commitment to healthcare outreach and innovation. He reiterated the group’s broader vision to expand healthcare access across the African continent.
