F1 bosses have decided to scrap the new qualifying system after heavy criticism at the season-opening Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix. Nico Rosberg won the race ahead of Mercedes team-mate and defending drivers' champion Lewis Hamilton. It was a thrilling start to the season with the race being halted following a huge crash involving Fernando Alonso. The McLaren driver came into contact with the back wheel of Esteban Gutierrez, but walked away unhurt from the high speed collision. Bahrain is next up on the race calendar in two weeks, but won’t feature the new qualifying system.
