O'Connell faces anxious wait

NULL

Ireland rugby captain Paul O'Connell's international career may be over after he suffered a serious leg injury in the 24-9 victory over France. Coach Joe Schmidt fears it could rule the 35-year-old out of their quarter-final with Argentina and potentially spell the end of his Ireland career. O'Connell is leaving international rugby and joining Toulon after the World Cup - having won 108 caps. "It doesn't look great with Paul. It looks like an upper hamstring but we will probably have to wait until Monday to give it a scan," said Schmidt. Elsewhere, fly-half Johnny Sexton is also awaiting a scan after picking up a groin strain, while Peter O'Mahony suffered a suspected knee injury but is less of a concern.
