A Dubai resident is among those missing after a submersible exploring the wreckage of the Titanic disappeared.
It went missing on Sunday evening, off the coast of southeastern Canada, while taking researchers to view the wreck of the ship, 4,000 metres deep beneath the surface.
Hamish Harding posted on social media just hours before the mission began, saying he was proud to be a "mission specialist on the sub going down to the Titanic".
An avid explorer, Harding was part of the Blue Origin NS-21 mission in June last year.
The private company that operates the sub, OceanGate Expeditions, said in a statement last night that it was "mobilizing all options" to rescue those on board.
Action Aviation originally posted on Monday saying the sub had a successful launch and Captain Hamish is currently diving.
